Located at the Greenhouse Café, at Rosemary Hill farm just outside Pretoria, Zenkaya is a modular holiday accommodation unit kitted right in the bushes. This accommodation is really simple, uncluttered, and has modern interior allowing you to stay focused on what’s really important… resetting your zen of course.

So this cabin is right in Rosemary Hill farm and the area is known as a wedding venue but is also a host to many cabins. So you can pick and choose your favourite. It’s also a place where adventurous travellers can escape to reconnect with nature by exploring the nearby hiking trails, indulging in delicious food and staying in secluded, bespoke accommodation.

Talking about bespoken accommodation, the Zenkaya (Where I was staying), is a unique one-bedroom cabin and it seamlessly integrates with the natural environment. There’s a treetop outdoor shower with THREE showerheads, and floor to ceiling windows that open up to the porch giving you gorgeous uninterrupted views. It’s the only one of its kind on the property and is utterly private. You’ll have the entire area to yourself, and you’re far away from the next room that you don’t need to worry about hearing your neighbours

It’s been conveniently equipped with an air conditioner. This really helps as the area is really humid and so you can get to regulate the temperature. As the area is surrounded nature and is in the bushes, one gets to see vervet monkeys in the area, they are not a bother, but I’d say it’s safe to just keep your doors and windows closed at all times.

The name says it all because the sunsets at this villa are insane. Surrounded by trees, this villa screams peace. What makes this cabin special is the woodfire hot tub you can enjoy while watching the sunset behind the trees, the fireplace perfect for those winter stays, and the massive bathtub with a view. There is also a free-standing fireplace tucked away next to the bath, so you can enjoy a braai at the venue as well.

The farm makes a great week-end away from Johannesburg, is the perfect venue to experience, explore & exhale and reconnect with nature and authentic farm living
